Artist Spotlight – Jim Hansel

If you’re looking for a unique and inspiring piece of artwork, consider the work of Jim Hansel. Born in Minnesota, Hansel is legally blind from a degenerative eye disease known as Stargardt’s disease. Despite this, he managed to complete his high school education and eventually attend the University of Minnesota Duluth. He studied commercial art and design at college and is a graduate of the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Jim Hansel was born in Chaska, MN, and began painting when he was fifteen. His creative abilities were further developed at the University of Minnesota, where he earned a B.F.A. in commercial art in 1985. His work was first featured in the Courage Card Collection in 1989, and he went on to place as a semi-finalist in a print competition sponsored by the Minnesota Deer Hunters’ Assn.

Jim Hansel is the premier landscape artist. Born legally blind in 1977, he was diagnosed with Stargardt’s disease at an early age. He has since learned to focus and paint using low-vision devices. The artist has become one of the most highly regarded and collected artists in the United States and Canada. His limited-edition prints have reached over a hundred and fifty editions. His art is a wonderful addition to your home, as it is sure to delight.
