Artist Spotlight – Paul Brent

Paul Brent was born in Oklahoma City and began painting in 2000. His works feature drips of watercolor and a painted wash background. His paintings often feature geometric shapes and three-dimensional designs. His paintings have won several awards, including the prestigious Watercolor Montage Award. Paul Brent was born in Oklahoma City in 1946. His parents were educators and his mother was a descendant of an Oklahoma pioneer family. He grew up in southwest Oklahoma and attended schools there until he was thirteen. After high school, he attended California State University at Long Beach, where he majored in art and transferred to the University of California at Berkeley to study architecture. After completing a Bachelor of Architecture degree at Berkeley, he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City. While in the Air Force, Brent met his wife Lana Jane, and they married in 1968.

Paul now resides most of the year in Seaside, Oregon and maintains an art gallery in Panama City, Florida, where he spends part of the year. He has a studio and home in Seaside. Brent exhibits his work at several galleries throughout the Pacific Northwest, including Fairweather Home and Gallery on Broadway. His artwork is also included in several public collections. Paul has several watercolor publications, including Watercolor in Oregon, Pacific Northwest, and the Pacific Northwest.

In addition to being a member of several watercolor societies, Brent has been active in various community organizations. He served as president of the Bay Art Alliance, on the board of the Friends of Bay County Libraries, and on the board of the Greater Downtown Association. He has also been involved in a number of charitable endeavors and has been inducted into the Society of Illustrators in New York. His artwork has also been featured in magazines such as American Artist, Decor, and Art World News.
